Reasons You Don’t Get Rakeback
As most players know by now, rakeback is the percentage of rake players pay that they get back at the end of each month. In each raked pot players pay a small fee to the house for letting them play at the poker site. Players receiving rakeback are eligible to receive a small percentage of that rake back at the end of each month. This is done to help attract players to play at a poker site. Not getting rakeback is one of the worst poker leaks out there. By not getting rakeback you are refusing to take free money each month. Here are some of the top reasons you aren’t currently receiving rakeback.
1) You didn’t sign up for rakeback through one of the various methods provided.
2) You didn’t enter the correct bonus code or click on the proper link.
3) You created your poker account before rakeback was available (6+ years ago)
4) You are incurring too many monthly penalties in your rakeback account. Bonuses, guaranteed tournaments, using player points and fraud all subtract from your monthly rakeback – possibly making it negative.
5) You haven’t generated more than $20.00 of MG or $5.00 in rakeback. Most rakeback offers come with a minimum monthly MGR requirement to qualify. Play more poker and incur less penalties.

These days poker is becoming more and more of a grind. All of the poker books, training services and poker forums are strengthening the skills of the average poker player. A term I like to call, “Poker Darwinism” is alive and well as the game of poker advances before our very eyes. If you haven’t read up on it I would strongly suggest taking a few minutes to do so. Just fives years ago the terms pot odds and implied odds were almost never discussed – at least correctly. These days, the average fresh poker depositor is well versed in strategy topics like these. Juicy games are still available online, but finding them is hard. Even when you do find one it usually won’t last long. Today’s cash games are becoming more and more of a grind. We only have a few options to increase profitability currently.
1. Plug your poker leaks.
2. Make sure you receive monthly rakeback.
3. No discussion of strategy around new players.
Would you believe it if I told you that someone in the poker world made all the money shown in the picture below (and then some)?

If you guessed, “The House” you are 100% correct. Each year poker rooms earn multi-millions if not billions in rake generated revenue. Its amazing how taking a micro cut out of each pot over billions of hands can make so much money! If you want to get in on the massive amounts of money being made consider becoming a poker affiliate. Naples Dog Track and Poker Room
Since I haven’t played a lot of live poker in a while I decided to take a trip to the local poker room here in Florida. Accompanying the Naples, FL dog racing track is a newly renovated poker room. The poker hall has more than 20 tables with over half of them full during business hours. The live poker room has both limit and no limit holdem games available. Stakes range from $3-$6 limit to $5-$10 no limit holdem. The room has attractive bonus offers like hourly high hand bonuses of $100-$300 or more. Any royal flush also pays a minimum of $5000.00 as well.

The games at this poker room are ultra juicy with both drunk and newbie poker players at $1-$2 no limit tables. Games are so aggressive that you usually can’t see a flop for less than $12.00 pre-flop. Waiting for aces, kings, queens and ace-king is the best strategy at this table. Unfortunately, set-mining is rarely effective since pre-flop calls are usually no less than 12 big blinds. The downside to the dog track poker room is their wacko buyin policy. Currently, Florida county law prohibits buyins of more than 50 big blinds – crazy if you ask me. With the constant over-aggression a pre-flop call for 12%-15% of my stack doesn’t seem profitable.
Unfortunately, I lost one of the only pots I played in that night. After being card dead for more than two hours I picked up a monster by this tables standards. I limped under-the-gun with big slick (AK) and shoved over the top of a raiser and a caller. Both players ended up calling my all in bet with AQ and 1010. In the end the best hand ended up winning and I quickly lost my $100.00 buyin.

The Lifetime Poker Grind
April 13, 2009 by cal
Whether you want to be a doctor, professional athlete or poker player you must persevere through all obstacles in your way. The wash-out rates of highly esteemed professions are staggering. The grind and hard work is a high price to pay for the majority of people. An interesting and obvious correlation exists between odds of becoming a given profession and salary – the harder it is to become something the more you get paid. Here are some interesting odds numbers on professional careers and occurrences in life.
Odds Of…
Winning Olympic Medal: 1 in 662,000
Professional Baseball Player: 1 in 470,000
Struck by Lightning: 1 in 576,000
Dating a Supermodel: 1 in 88,000
Audited by IRS: 1 in 180
Professional Blogger: 1 in 10,000
Long Term Winning Poker Player: 1 or 2 in 20 (5%-10%)
Top Poker Player: 1 in 5,000 (Winning $XXX,XXX+)
If you can’t spot the sucker at the table in the first few hands – its you. A similar line from the movie rounders supports the estimated percentages of profitable poker players. Many theories are out there, but roughly one person at each table makes money playing poker, maybe even less. If you think you can just sit down at an online poker table and make money right away you are sorely mistaken. Poker takes just a few days to learn and a lifetime to master. The game is measured in terms of thousands or millions of hands, not a quick rush. The rake taken from each pot hits you and your opponents are always getting better. Next time you sit down at a poker table and have a losing session, realize just how difficult it is to profit long term. The game of poker and many careers often start off as a grind.

Free Poker Money
1. Become a poker affiliate and make money referring your friends.
This is by far the top method of making money through online poker. In addition to playing at the tables you can refer your friends to play with you. Each new player you sign up that makes a deposit into their poker account and plays on the site earns you money. Blogs and websites are perfect for referring players to play poker although they aren’t needed. Simply create a custom “bonus code” and email or tell your friends. Anyone can sign up, and best of all – its free!
2. Get money back each month through a rakeback program.
Rake is the money taken out of the pot at each poker site. This amounts to the house commission or fee for letting you play on their site. Rakeback is a percentage of the house rake that you are eligible to get back each month. The more poker you play, the more money you get back each month – it’s that simple! You can also offer potential players a rakeback deal as an incentive or reward. Rakeback is becoming increasingly important in today’s age of online poker.
3. Take advantage of the huge sign-up deposit and reload bonuses
All poker sites offer deposit match or sign-up bonuses. When you create a poker account at a given site and deposit money, the poker site matches your deposit amount with a bonus. Most sites off a 100% sign-up bonus up to a particular amount. For example, depositing 600$ on Full Tilt will earn you 600$ worth of bonus money, which is “cleared” by playing a set amount of hands. This is to prevent fraud and people immediately cashing out without playing to collect bonus money.
4. Participate in tournament freerolls and other promotional events
Most sites offer “freeroll” tournaments where entry fees are waived. Although they are difficult to win you have nothing to lose. One famous player, “annette_15″ never deposited money into her poker accounts since she was under the legal age to play. She entered tournament freerolls and eventually won money. She never looked back, building her account into the millions over the course of 5-years.
5. As an affiliate refer other people to become affiliates (sub-affiliates)
Once you become a poker affiliate at a card site you can recruit players and earn commission. Did you know you can also refer people to become affiliates just like you? You earn an additional percentage of the revenue generated by the people you sign up to become affiliates. Best of all you don’t have to do any of the work!
6. Advertise for poker book websites like amazon.com.
Although there is a low turnover rate for book and merchandise advertising, amazon.com and other online retailers offer commission affiliate programs. You can advertise things like card tables, chips, books and dvds on your website or blog and earn money.
7. Advertise for poker software programs for commission.
With the explosion of online poker, everyone is trying to gain a little bit of an edge. The need for software tracking programs has increased dramatically. Software like pokertracker and holdem calculator are becoming increasingly popular. These sites have become so competitive that they now offer generous affiliate commissions for leads that turn into sales.
8. Become a prop player and earn an hourly rate to play.
Although prop player programs are becoming more and more scarce, newly formed poker sites often create these programs to increase traffic at their tables. They often offer hourly rates for players to play at their tables during non-peak hours. These types of programs are usually offered at brick and mortar card rooms as well.
9. Create a poker blog about your poker life with CPC and PPC advertisements
If you have a poker blog or website that gets a decent amount of traffic you should consider putting google adsense on your pages. This pay-per-click advertising service could earn you a little money each month. Certainly enough to cover the cost of hosting and domain name fees.
10. Download a SNG poker bot to play for you
Poker bots have made a breakthrough in recent months. They now have sit & go poker bots available for purchase. Basically, you program the bot with desired formulas and it plays for you. I suspect these bots will become increasingly popular. Websites like icmbot.com offer lucrative affiliate programs, which could earn you extra cash – not to mention the bot play potentially being profitable.
